9 Weeks Old!

Hazen is 9 weeks old already!  It's amazing how children can have the same DNA but have different traits all together.  Hazen has some features that are the same as Adler but also looks like.....Hazen!  Nana thinks he is built larger than Adler.  Diffidently, has an appetite and very little patience when it's time to eat!  It's wonderful to sit and snuggle with him and soak up the innocence.  Adler has been quite "The Helper", Mom is getting really fast on her feet.  Nana thinks he needs a T-Shirt that says, "Can't B Trusted!"  We are very proud of Adler - he has decided it's time to wear Big Boy pants.  Yea!!!
Praise God, we have been getting some much needed moisture in our area.  Everything is green and the flowers are blooming.  God is good.  Terry and I have been doing well.  Finally made a couple of Doctor appointments and have had some tests to make sure everything is working as it should be.  I guess that is part of making it over the "50" hump.  Shelby and Jared are soaking in the joys of parenting and adjusting to having an extra member in the family.  Uncle Stephen and Aunt Sadie have been busy with their jobs.  I think they are satisfied for the time being, playing and spoiling the nephews, then going home!  Dad has been doing great and Mom finally finished her treatments.  They left for Colorado last week and will be gone the month of August.  Since they placed Mr. Rooster in another home, (which was one of the conditions), I am taking care of the chickens and house (with Terry's help).  Izzy seems ok with Hazen's arrival and loves to see Adler.  Nana and Izzy miss having the extra energy in the house.  Starting the last week of August, this old lady will be taking care of her boys again while Mommy & Daddy work.  I love knowing that this is how it's suppose to be.  It gives me a Purpose.

Hazen Joe

Thursday, May 30, 7:48 p.m...
Hazen Joe Bates, weighing in at 9 lbs. 3.5 oz. & 20.5 in. arrived into our family.
I am in "Love" again!
I have had a few friends tell me that they have missed my  blogging and truthfully, I have too. I am no different than everyone else with busy schedules and everyday life happenings.  Blogging is good therapy and I recommend it to everyone.
Life has thrown me some curve balls and also my loved ones.  But once again we can always lean on God for strength and we will get through everything.
Adler, Nana, and Izzy spend three days a week together and let me just say that, Nana & Izzy are finally getting into Adler's routine!  This boy is "full of energy"!!!  Non-stop movement!!!  He loves to be outside and loves to go fishing and the worms!  Papa has taken us a few times and Adler can't wait to go again. He is always looking for an opportunity to go somewhere.  We are making some wonderful memories.
Mom found out, a couple of months ago, that she had Breast Cancer again ( it's been 13 yrs.) on her other side. The surgeon removed all of the cancer and said everything looked really good. She starts Radiation this coming week.
Two weeks ago, Dad had a "Mini" stroke. It lasted approximately 20 minutes and was over. Took a ride by ambulance to the hospital, ran all the tests, spent the night and came back home the next day! There was no damage and no signs of complications so they told him to change some of his meds and go about everything as normal.
Shelby and Jared had their second baby this past week, Momma and baby are doing great.  Jared is one proud and supportive Daddy.  Big Brother couldn't be more enthused and is quite the BIG helper.  Hazen Joe is going to be one tough baby!  Hazen arrived Thurs. evening and everyone was back home Friday night.  Wow!
Friday morning Mother took a fall and banged herself up pretty good.  Dad brought her to the hospital er while we were all still there and we had her checked over.  Nothing broken but I'm sure it couldn't feel much worse if it had.  She's pretty bruised and scratched up but will mend.  A big Hug to Sadie, she was at the hospital and took charge of getting Mom home and getting her settled in until we made it back to town.
Did I mention all of the horrific weather Oklahoma has been enduring the past few weeks hasn't done much for a persons nerves!!!
I keep repeating to myself "we've got this covered, everything will be fine"..., right God???
Terry and I keep telling ourselves, every night while we sit and watch TV, that we are going to start taking better care of ourselves since we aren't getting any younger or more in shape.  That hurt.
Overall, we both feel very "Blessed" and God has been good.

Sept. 10, 2012

OK!  It's now the first part of September, and fall is on it's way.  I enjoy the fall weather, the most of the seasons.  Where to begin;  May is a month of celebration in our family.  It also started another chapter in my life.  I closed the doors to my kennel and placed all of my dogs in new homes.  Terry and I had been talking about making the transition for the past year with my health and all the "garbage" of rules and fees that OK came up with, it was time to make a decision.  I was very fortunate and the timing could not have been any better.  I was able to place my dogs with 3 well-know breeders, two of which I know well, and felt very comfortable letting go of them all.  I haven't missed the work part of it but still have some trouble with the being unemployed status!  I do however, love my time with Mr. Adler and hopefully will be having more little feet running around Nana's in the future.  June and July were busy for Terry and the weather definitely got HOTTER!  August  brought Shelby and Jared's 4th Anniversary and the 17th we participated in a "John Deere" 2nd Birthday party for Adler.  I have never seen so many Green farm equipment in one room! Papa and Nana got him a Sandbox and he loved it.  He goes out and just lays down in the sand.  He rubs sand all over himself.  He had a blast!  I think it could be recorded in the history books that Adler is one of the few 2 year old that has 11 living Grandparents.  9 of them were able to be at the party. We took him fishing on a Sunday afternoon while Shelby and Jared were working.  Jared had already taken him and they played with his fishing pole at home, so he was a pro from the get-go.  I don't know who had more fun, Adler or us but the look on his face when Papa caught the first fish was priceless.  He wiggled all over with excitement.  From that moment on he wasn't too interested in holding the pole until he saw the fish on the end, then he was reaching telling us that "he could do it"!  It was a great afternoon even if I never even got a bite!  Adler's new enjoyment is the golf cart.  That boy could ride around all day long if Nana's back would permit it.  He sits perfectly still and waves at everyone we see.  This Nana can tell you every bump and crack in this town.  Little boy's brains are soooo different from little girls.  His love for tractors, trucks and cars kicked into over-drive around a month ago.  I've never seen anything like it.  Don't even get me started on his LOVE 4 DIRT!  He's like a magnet when we go outside. Terry and I took a long overdue trip to Colorado Springs at the end of August to finally see Kent and Brenda McMahan's home.  What a beautiful place!  They were wonderful hostess' and I even got a Hug! out of Kent before leaving.  He didn't offer but I really didn't ask!  The weather couldn't have been any nicer and we saw some really nice places.  Once again, the Holidays are creeping up on us.  Get It?  Creeping - Halloween, ok, moving on.Why is it, the older I get, the slower I move, but everything else go by so fast.  I take more vitamins, sleep more hours and still can't keep up.  Hmmm... I was introduced to "Pinterest" a few months back, let me just say, Wow!  What a genius concept.  You can find anything and everything on this website.  It is the best thing ever-for occupying your time!!!  It's the source of all sources for searching the Internet.  I have been tinkering with different projects and recipes that I have found (My Treasures) and have started a group, of ladies (men are welcome), that meet once a month to share ideas and show things we each have discovered or accomplished off of Pinterest. It's been fun and gets me out of the house.  Mother talked me into entering some things in the County Fair last week.  I'm  proud to say, I took the "BEST IN SHOW" on a collage I made of our Grandparents.  WhooHoo!  In addition, I got 3 First place and 2 Second place ribbons on other craft items. You would have thought I had won the Lottery or a new car.  I'm not sure, but I might get enough with my winnings to buy Adler a few more HotRod cars.   I have started back into scrapbooking again.  I hope to keep energized this time and get a lot of pictures done.  Cross your fingers for me.    I will put up some more pictures at the bottom and will write again soon.

Deo Volente,
Nana

Florida Wedding

Goodness me, it has been a very busy couple of months!  April 19, 2012, Sadie and Stephen got married on the beach in Fort Walton, Florida.  What a wonderful ceremony and trip. I see now why people become "Beach Bums".   Sadie looked  so beautiful and Stephen was so happy.  We enjoyed staying on the beach and relaxing.  Of course, we did alot of eating and picture taking too!  We arrived on Monday and left on Friday.  Stephen and Sadie went on from Florida to the Bahamas for a few days.  Adler enjoyed the freedom he had on the beach and became quite the little swimmer in the pool.  Nana did better traveling on the planes but would diffidently feel more comfortable if they would just let me operate the take-off and landing of the plane!  May is always a busy and expensive month for our family.  Terry and I have been married 31 years the 20th of May!  Whoo-whoo!  I think we are running out of things to disagree on, or Terry is finally realizing that I'm usually right!  Shelby turned 28 and Sadie turned 25, shhhhh. Dad had his Birthday, celebrated Mother's Day, several friends' children graduating and a couple of weddings.  Now for other news, I closed the door on the kennel last week for the last time. Yep, sold the dogs, gave away a few and locked the door.  I started raising dogs in 1994 and enjoyed every aspect of owning my own business.   Although I loved the animals and the freedom it gave me with my family,  I was ready to give up the worries and commitments,  and all the "hogwash" that politics were adding to it.   Now if I can just get use to the fact that I have less to worry about!   It's hard to just stop thinking about something that consumed everyday for the past 18 years.  I'm sure I will adjust just fine.  I am very happy and blessed to be in a position to help the kids with Adler and hopefully more Grandchildren in the future.   I have taken up doing Yoga and hopefully will get some scrapbooking done.  As Shelby would say " It would be nice if you would just do some scrapbooking, period, Mom!"  After helping the kids move, again, I am in the mood to do a little redecorating myself.  Please don't tell Terry, it just stresses him out!!!  I plan on going with Terry more when he leaves town for business and hopefully get to do more shopping!  We bought a different vehicle last week.  I finally broke down and drove it out of town last night.  I wanted to keep it in the garage so that it wouldn't get dirty.  Poor Betsy, my old car, has been so faithful, it will be sad to see her go.  Oh well, my new ride has seats that cool my behind in the summer and get warm in the winter!  I'm sure I can get use to this too.  Summer is here!  I wonder if it's possible that the June Bugs didn't survive the winter?

50 Years!

How can this not make you smile? The sweetest word that I have ever heard? NANA! Or maybe, Naaannna! Adler likes to emphasis just a little, lol. It never seems to get old. Sorry Sadie.
Well, we are getting very close to April 19th. We have a few final plans to make and then here we come Florida! I better start working on the tan that I DON'T have! I'm guessing that the "Okies" will stand out on the Florida beaches. Sadie and Stephen are going to make such a "Comfy Couple". They are two of the most layed-back people I Love! They so enjoy eachother.
Shelby and Jared bought a larger home east of Alva. I am so excited for them, the house has so much more room for them. Except for the remodeling and moving part, I think my job is the hardest. I watch Adler! I know, someone has to do it, right? It has a big backyard for Adler to play in. He loves to go outside. This Nana will be spending more time outside this Spring and Summer. If nothing else, Grandchildren diffently keep you younger. Adler got his 18 months old pictures taken and can I just say once again they are too cute. Of course you can check them out yourself down at the bottom.
Terry and I celebrated our 50th Birthdays. Wow, that's still sounds old! My body keeps telling me that I am 50 but I can't wrap my mind around the fact that I AM as old as my parents once were! WOW! Terry surprised me with flowers for my birthday. Your thinking ok, well for years now I've been telling him not to waste money of flowers. Well, I couldn't have thought of a better present-I was so surprised and giggled like a school girl still dating!
Terry and I have spent over 30 of our 50 years together. There's not a day that goes by that I forget how precious our time is together.
What a wonderful thing it is to spend the better part of your life with your bestfriend and soulmate. Terry is my rock and my sense of humor. A very dear friend recently reminded me that it has been fun being married to Terry. It is such a warm feeling to know how blessed we are.

6 Months

It has been 6 months since I have posted! There is no excuse. Well I have many of them but I will spare you the details. I have a lot of catching up to do.

We celebrated Adler's First of Many Birthdays! Shelby did a great job decorating in a "Farm Animal" theme for him. He loved having all the attention and opening the presents. He wasn't quite sure what to think about getting to make a mess out of his cake, but eventually was a pro at squishing the cake between his fingers. What a Hoot!

Sadie & Stephen have settled into their new home and jobs. April 19th will be here before we know it. It's nice having the kids in Alva. Papa and Nana only have to drive 20 miles one way to see everyone. I hope the kids enjoy this as much as we do?

Adler was a Blue Dragon for Halloween this year. It was funny watching him "waddle" up the sidewalk as if he was going to a Social Event. He was impressed with the idea of people handing him candy. It didn't take him long before he figured out that he could help get the candy for himself.

Terry & I took a roadtrip over to the eastern part of Oklahoma and into Arkansas. Even though it had been so dry this summer, the trees and foliage was still beautiful. We spent two days driving and seeing part of Oklahoma I had never seen. I had so much fun taking lots & lots of pictures. I even got a chance to drive, briefly. Terry took back the wheel when motorists were racing their motors and tailgating us! I don't know why people can't relax. Seriously, what's wrong with going 30 mph???

We had a wonderful time with all of our family through the Holidays. This year at Thanksgiving my side (The White Family) decided to get some family pictures. OH MY! It was a good idea - hectic - but a good idea. There are 25 of us total. I think Mom & Dad's house is shrinking! We were all able to be together which is a blessing in itself. We have always been blessed for the most part of having everyone home for the holidays.

Being so close in distance makes it easy to get together for Christmas too. I've always said " it didn't matter when we get together as long as we get together". As always, it was fun watching Adler with his gifts. This year we were sure he would have a blast opening the gifts. We never counted on the fun he would have climbing, standing and jumping on the presents first!

Adler comes to Nana's house 3-4 times a week. What a Blessing it is. He sure does keep this Nana hopping. Izzy and Adler are good buddies. I'm not sure who gets the best of who anymore. It's funny to watch them run through the house chasing each other. He's getting pretty good at helping. He loves to do the laundry. I let him help me put the clothes into the dryer. He still doesn't understand why Nana won't let him get into the dryer first! So far he thinks it's fun to help pick things up, but just as important to pull everything right back out!

Terry shot a really nice Buck during hunting season this year. I know he was excited, but all he could say was he couldn't wait until Adler was old enough to go with him. Papa doesn't seem to mind that his golfing days have been fewer. He hasn't complained too much about giving up his TV time so that Adler can watch the "Wizard Of Oz" over and over and over...

I'm so glad you stopped into my little world. I plan on keeping up better. Enjoy the pictures at the bottom.

WOW!

I really cannot believe it has been this long since my last posting. Time has slipped by without me noticing. That's scary! Next month will be a huge turning point for our family. First of all, Sadie graduates from Autry Tech the 28th of July. I'm sending out a Big HOOOORAH! Terry and I couldn't be more proud of her. I was talking to her this morning encouraging (OK, maybe just a little caution thrown in) that she only has one more week to keep her head down and stay focused. It has been a long road, sometimes tough, but the end is here. She will then be able to take her final exam to get Certified in August. ~YEA!~ Did I mention how proud we are of her? Stephen and Sadie have bought a home in Alva. They are closing and moving the first load today. Stephen has been working for SandRidge for the last month and has really enjoyed it. Sadie starts working full-time, the second week of August, at Share Medical Hospital in the Radiology Dept. in Alva (Shelby is an RN there). Shelby and Jared will celebrate their 3rd Anniversary the 2nd of August. It has been a busy year for the two (no, make that three) of them. Last but never least, August 17, Mr. Adler will be having his Birthday! He changes everyday. His independence, mobility, curiosity, appetite, personality (stubbornness), and looks change everyday. Happy Birthday Adler, Hugs & Kisses, Love Grandma. Izzy and Adler are becoming quite the pair. Izzy is very patient with Adler's pulling and stepping on her. The only conflict they have is deciding who's toy it is. Adler wants to play with Izzy's toys and Izzy has successfully chewed the head off of two of Adler's little construction men. I'm sure she didn't mean to! Terry and I are blessed. WOW, it's a little busy around here. Wouldn't ask for anything to change. Added some more pictures at the bottom. Enjoy!

Joy!

We have had a lot of Joy these past couple of months. Sadie is putting the finishing touches on her education. She graduated from NOC last Saturday with 2 Science Assoc. Degrees. Most of the family helped her celebrate her big day. She will now graduate July 28 from Autry Tech getting her Radiography. She has been putting in quite a few hours at Bass Hospital in Enid and Share Hospital in Alva. When she works at Alva, it gives her an opportunity to spend time with Jared, Shelby and Adler. Terry and I are so proud of her. Sadie had some puddles to jump but she's a hard worker. Terry and I are so proud of her accomplishments. Let the celebrating begin!
Terry stays busy with work and helping me around the house and kennel. He LOVES being a PaPa. Now that the weather is getting nice, he's managed to get in some golfing. Shocker!
I am still going to OKC to see Dr. Rogers. I was a bit "cranky" last trip. I hope he will continue to see me.
The medicine I take causes a little trouble with brightness and motion but it seems to be getting more tolerable.
Easter was good. The weather wasn't very nice but it was good to get together and Easter Services are always a nice reminder of how blessed we are.
May is such a busy month; Terry and I will celebrate 30 Years on the 20th, YEPEE! Dad, Shelby, and Sadie each have a Birthday, and Mother's Day. Whew!
Now, Mr. Adler... is growing so fast. I can't believe how much he changes. I know I sound like a scratched record, but I enjoy keeping him so much. He sure gives this GMa a good pick-me-up. His little personality sure shows thru those big blue eyes. Adler is such a creature of habit. He is pretty much a schedule keeper. In order for the kids to keep somewhat of a routine, I also try to mimic the same schedule or ways that Shelby does things. However, when it comes to feeding time, well let me just say, NOT! This is the one and might I say only time Mr. Adler and GMa Do Battle! Now I'm not saying that I haven't tried to do feed Adler at the same time and exactly what he should eat. No, the confrontation begins with the HOW. You can see this little glimmer appear in this little boy's eyes and here we go. For a month or so, even though he is only a baby, there is pure enjoyment that comes over Adler when I try to feed him his baby food. I have "restrained and threatened" him within an inch of his tiny little body. Now don't get me wrong, Adler and GMa manage to get this feat accomplished but not before I am completely exhausted mentally. Shelby keeps telling me that I am not firm enough. HA! My oh so cute, irresistible, can't help but love grandson is whipping this GMa's backside.
Izzy loves Adler so much. Bless her heart, she wants to play with him. Her feelings are crushed when she brings all of her toys to him and then gets into trouble when when make her take them back. Just a few more months and the playing will never end. Izzy also understands the pressure that builds during eating time. The minute Adler gets into the highchair, Izzy runs for cover and stays in her bed until it's over.
My journal is a daily tool to better my life. Making a daily choice to strengthen myself inwardly, is a "Begin Again" gift from God.
As always, check out the pictures below and I hope you enjoy!

SSS

I can remember as a little girl, women my Grandmother's age having trouble keeping their stockings pulled up. They would be wrinkled or look saggy all the way down the lower part of their legs. It always amazed me why their stocking had evolved to this condition. Now it is the best explanation that I have for my present situation. I am struggling with the "Saggy Stocking Syndrome". The past few months (two years) I have battled keeping my socks pulled up, matched together or even on my feet. With help and encouragement, I do have Faith that I am slowly regaining the elasticity and durability in my socks. Terry and I have been making a couple of trips to OKC a month. I have started my new regiment of medication and a program (Marshall Protocol). I have let this problem kick my "Behind" long enough. Terry has been my Hero through out my struggle. He is my strength and backbone. If not for his encouragement and support, I could not have the opportunity of enjoying my "Little Buddy". Adler just makes GMa smile.

Terry and I have Exciting News! Sadie is engaged! Steven proposed last SuperBowl Sunday and she said YES. Terry and I couldn't be happier. It looks like we will be having a 2012 May Wedding. More details will come later. You can hear Sadie bubbling through the phone. It will be fun planning another Big Day! I think Big Sister is pretty excited about helping too.
.
Izzy is doing well. I can see a true friendship growing between Adler and her. A couple of weeks ago, Adler was being a little fussy sitting in his bouncy seat. Terry and I were in the kitchen, when I realized Adler was quite. I looked over the counter to see Izzy, with gentle love and affection, licking the top of his head. To my surprise, Adler was grinning and giggling! It was too cute. I'm sure his Mom & Dad wouldn't think so, but it was too cute.
More later,
Enjoy

2011!

This morning while driving to meet the kids to pick up Adler, the radio was talking about why people say Two Thousand Eleven (2011) when it is Twenty Eleven? It makes sense, we never did say One thousand Nine Hundred Ninety Nine (1999) did we?
I thought that this picture summed up our Holidays! We ate until we couldn't eat another bite. We had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. I hope it was the same for all of you. Adler took in the festivities in style. He seemed to enjoy all of it but did get a little off schedule. Once again, Terry and I were blessed to able to see all of our Family through the holidays. I am glad that we all live within driving distance. The best part of my week seems to be keeping Adler. I enjoy it immensely! It seems to help me forget all of the other "Junk". I am so happy to help out. Not sure who is helping who. Terry and I have been making a few trips to OKC to see a new Doctor, Dr. Barry S. Rogers DO. NMMOMM ( how's that for a mouth full!) he seems to be making some progress. Before Christmas, they sent off several tests, concluding that I have Limes Decease and an elevated Vit. D. This Friday, I will meet with Dr. Rogers and start a regiment of medicine that will hopefully fight off the infection and help reduce the inflammation in my body (keeping my fingers crossed). I think of my self as a Realistic. I try not to make but a few New Years Resolutions, hoping that I won't have to admit failure. They are to get more sleep and educating myself more on what's happening around us. Terry and I have started watching Glen Beck and Bill O'Reilly every evening. The tough one will be getting more sleep, I have always had a problem with sleep. I'm slowing realizing that it's one of the healthiest choices I can make for myself and Terry. I will also continue to deepen my relationship with my Bible and God. I have enjoyed my journey I started this past year and am excited to continue on. The kids seem to be busy with work, school and daily activities. Izzy, seems to be accepting the fact that she now shares her days with Mom (GMa). If possible she remains constant about staying close by and laying between Adler and I as much as possible. Wishing everyone a wonderful New Year or as we need to say "Twenty Eleven"! Check out the pictures, mostly of Adler, of course.
God Bless You.
